Help with Watch Me Focus

If you are having difficulties teaching your dog “Watch Me,” here are a few tips…

Rewards!

Treats often work better for the Watch Me lesson. Make sure the treats are especially yummy or smelly, soft and easy to chew, and cut into small pieces. Read Treats and Rewards for more information.

If your dog is lunging at the treat…

Think about your treat value and use a less smelly or yummy treat. You can always switch back to dry kibble if necessary.

Timing

Reward immediately when your dog looks at your face or eyes. Kneel down so you are close to your dog.
