What is Healing Touch for Animals®?
Healing Touch for Animals® (HTA) is a bio-field energy medicine modality combining philosophies, techniques and applications to promote energy balance and healing of our animal companions.
Energy modalities have been around for centuries but many people in our country are still unaware of their health benefits. Actually, there is an amazing science behind it that can really impact our ability to heal on all levels.
Every living creature has an energy system. By using gentle hands-on techniques we direct and modulate energy to clear and balance the energy system of the animal. The process creates a deep relaxation that then increases circulation, elevates oxygen which helps our bodies to absorb nutrients, build enzymes, regulate hormones, release toxins, promote healthy cell growth, and then regulates the immune system.
What is it used for?
Simply, it helps the body to heal. It may not always be a cure but it can provide healing on many levels. HTA techniques can help support the healing process of injuries, illness, disease, trauma, pre/post surgery, birthing, stress, competition, and be used during euthanasia. It can be used for behavioral issues and to support training. It can also be used for wellness and for bonding.
HTA techniques are designed to enhance the healing process and do not replace traditional medical or veterinary care, medical diagnosis or medical treatment. Many veterinarians have taken HTA workshops and are incorporating energy medicine in their practices, others are working together with HTA practitioners.
HTA can be used on all animal species including mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, insects and people. All benefit from it!
Who is HTA and how do I learn it?
HTA is based in Highlands Ranch CO and is taught in over 30 cities and two other countries. It birthed from the Healing Touch Program, the people version which is in many of our hospitals and is internationally recognized. However, HTA has been modified specially for the animal’s energy system. Though there are several similarities to the human energy system, there are also many differences because of their instinctual nature.
HTA offers 4 levels of workshops and certification. You will learn the basics of energy medicine, the energy anatomy of dogs, cats and horses, several powerful techniques, and actually apply these techniques to dogs and horses in level 1. You will leave the workshop being able to provide HTA to the animal companions in your life. With each level you learn more advanced techniques and the program incorporates the training and use of tuning forks and essential oils.
Personal Testimonial
Shortly after I took level 2, both of my dogs were diagnosed with a serious auto-immune disease where they lost their ability to clot their blood. One of our dogs was in critical condition and started chemo immediately. Our vet told us if she responded, she would be on chemo for 6-8 months. Within three weeks she was deteriorating quickly. Not only was she not responding but she had a reaction to the bone marrow medication which threw her white and red blood cells into disarray. Now on 8 prescriptions, our vet told us to “be ready to put her down next week”. At that time I started using level 1 techniques on both of the dogs, our vet had asked me not to at first. Within one week the blood work on both of our dogs was in normal range, everything! She was weaned off all meds by the end of the second month and is with us today. And this was using just level 1 techniques.
Results will vary because it is their healing process. We are just the facilitators. Healing can occur on many levels yet not always result in a cure. But to have the opportunity to connect with our animal companions in this way is truly amazing.
As a Certified Practitioner and the Denver Coordinator, I have witnessed so many incredible responses to HTA – from the animals and their people who have attended. It is an amazing program, organization and network of like-minded people that I feel so fortunate to be a part of.
Who should take HTA?
I personally believe that everyone with animals in their life should learn this. We have people from all walks of life come into the program. Some have animals in their life and they want to learn just for them. Some work at shelters and rescues. Vets and vet techs attend. Trainers, groomers, breeders and those in show attend. People who want to experience continuing education attend as do people who are looking for a way to work with animals.
Extra benefits of training
HTA offers monthly practitioner conference calls for those who have taken a workshop. During these calls, 60+ practitioners around the country will gather to learn how others are using these techniques and to submit questions you may have.
HTA offers monthly essential oil conference calls for those who are Young Living distributors wanting to learn how to safely use essential oils with animals.
In Denver, I coordinate monthly practice groups where those who have attended the workshops (all levels welcome) volunteer treatments at different non-profit shelters/rescues in the front range area. In addition to providing a place to practice the techniques you learned, gather with a group of friends, we are trying to increase awareness of the many needs in our local shelters/rescues to impact our community.
