I was stewarding in Rally for all of the excellent class…then it was time to set up Advanced course…which is the class me and my dog are in…there were toys in the figure 8 excellent exercise…I thought they would be taken out for the Advanced class…wrong…. The judge smiles and says Oh No… those are for the Advanced class also…. So our time comes to enter the ring and my male lab zero’s in on the toys. (yes, we do practice with toys and will continue to)  I tried to get his attention, then unclip the lead to get ready to start the course and he runs over to the toys, grabs up one and starts playing. I take it away, tell him to ‘leave it’ and hand it to the judge. I said ‘well I guess we failed before we even got started’, and the judge said ‘I did not say forward’, so are you ready now? Well I tried again to get his attention but he stared at the toys almost the whole routine. We get to the figure 8 exercise and I say to myself ‘here we go’. I keep talking to him, keeping his attention somewhat and we get through it. Two more stations to go to the finish line and we make it. I let out a big sigh and the judge screams ‘you made it, you passed!’ 76 not our best score, but our first Adv B leg. The whole place clapped and wooted. I was a mess after that. So keep trying even if you think you cannot make it. You may surprise yourself.
