Come or Recall
The Come or Recall command is used to call your dog to you. This command can be used in a variety of situations such as bringing your dog in from the backyard or gathering your dog after a session at the dog park.
Process
Start with your dog on leash.
Hold the leash in your left hand and several treats in your right hand.
Say your dog’s name and Come.
As the dog approaches, reach out with the your left hand and take hold of their collar.
Lure the dog as closely as possible to you by holding your right hand near your right leg.
Praise and reward your dog for coming to you.

Tips
- Why hold the collar? Your dog will associate good things, treats, with you holding their collar. How many dogs do you know that play the game, “You can’t catch me?”
- Not getting the response your desire? Try rewarding your dog with a jackpot. A jackpot is a surprise reward of several treats given out one after another. Just like Vegas, remember to only use this periodically so your dog never knows when he or she will hit the jackpot.
